What if one of the most important things you do this week isn't on your calendar?

It might be an unexpected conversation, a change in someone's tone, something said in passing, a person who lingers just a little longer than usual.

Years ago, I started thinking of moments like these as heart-drops—small glimpses people give us into what's really going on beneath the surface.

Sometimes they come through words, sometimes through silence, sometimes it's simply that little nudge that tells us: Pay attention. There's more here.

But we can miss them.

We're moving fast and thinking about what's next—solving problems and getting through the day. Meanwhile, someone right in front of us may be waiting for us to encourage them, listen to them, believe in them, or remind them that they matter.

Maybe making a difference isn't always about doing something big; maybe it's about becoming the kind of person who notices.

Because who we're becoming shapes what we notice—and what we do with what we see.

Look up. Notice. Act.

  • Send the text.

  • Ask the second question.

  • Stay a few minutes longer.

  • Say the encouraging thing you're thinking instead of only thinking it.

  • Listen without rushing to fix.

Opportunities to make someone feel seen, heard, encouraged, or valued are all around us. But first, we have to notice them. You may be surprised by what you see when you're looking.
