With many graduations happening this time of year, I wanted to share this insight from Jeff Henderson. His message is relevant to us, regardless of what season of life we’re in. If you’re nudged, please share it with someone else to bless them!
“You don’t have to figure out the rest of your life. You just have to figure out what to do next.”
That’s good news for anyone stepping into a new season.
Graduation can feel exciting, overwhelming, hopeful, and uncertain all at once. You may not have every answer yet, but you do not need to have your entire future mapped out to start moving forward with purpose. Growth happens one intentional step at a time.
Here are leadership decisions that can help shape your next season well:
Build relationships before you need them. Your future will be shaped not only by what you know, but by who you grow alongside. Strong relationships open doors, sharpen your thinking, and remind you that leadership is never a solo journey.
Learn how to manage your money early. Character shows up in stewardship long before success arrives. Learning to handle your finances wisely now creates habits that will serve you for years to come.
Ask better questions. Great leaders are great learners. Instead of feeling pressure to have all the answers, become someone who listens well, stays curious, and learns from others.
Discover your strengths. Too many people spend years chasing what sounds exciting instead of understanding how they are uniquely wired. Your strengths often point toward the greatest opportunities for growth and impact.
Express gratitude often. No one succeeds alone. Take time to thank the people who encouraged you, challenged you, and believed in you along the way. Gratitude keeps you grounded and reminds others that their investment mattered.
Live believing forward. Continuously embrace the mindset of hope, expecting great things to happen, and no doubt, that’s one of the reasons why they will.
Get back up promptly. When things don’t go your way—and they will—pick yourself back up promptly and keep moving because you are worth it. You are not meant to stay down!
Intentionally Own It! What growth does this message inspire me to embrace, and why does it matter? When I embrace it, who am I becoming, and what value does this add to my life and to others?
