The best leaders have contagious positive energy.

For centuries, researchers and leaders have sought the secret to successful leadership. Harvard's research has revealed that one factor exceeds all others: positive relational energy, which is the energy exchanged between people that uplifts, enthuses, and renews them.

Positive leaders (energizers) are life-enhancing and uplifting. Their most important secret is that they lift themselves and their organizations by uplifting others through authentic, values-based leadership. Positive energizers demonstrate and cultivate virtuous actions. As a result, everyone flourishes.

Positively energizing leaders is more crucial than ever. Positive energy is not the superficial demonstration of false positivity, like trying to think happy thoughts or disregarding the very real stresses and pressures overloaded people are experiencing. Instead, it’s an active demonstration of living inspired.

Physical energy diminishes with use. The only kind of energy that doesn’t reduce but elevates with use is positive relational energy. We rarely get exhausted by being around uplifting people.

Leaders set the tone.

As leaders, we get to model the way by asking ourselves every day, “What am I modeling, and what impact does it have?” and “How can I positively increase my influence?” When we improve, we inspire those around us to do the same.

Every organization, including your home, has a culture, but not everyone intentionally creates it. Great environments never happen by accident; they are always a result of intentional effort.
